  • Excellent winter birding thanks to open water provided by the dam. Many species’ late records come from this location.
  • Coldwell Park – take Hwy 44 west from the dam 4 km then north on a gravel road 4 km – also has good birding
  • Gardiner Dam forms Lake Diefenbaker from the South Saskatchewan River, one of Saskatchewan’s largest lakes
  • Visitor Center 9-5 Victoria to Labour Day
  • Frank Roy’s book Birds of the Elbow (1996) provides more information on local birding
