Volunteer Information & Opportunities

Nature Saskatchewan has many opportunities for you to become involved. In many cases, we are able to cover expenses. Whether you have a few hours, or several days to give we would love to have you volunteer with us. If you are interested in volunteering please fill out the Volunteer Application Form and return it to the Nature Saskatchewan office. Administration

• Serve on the Board of Directors
• Assist the Conservation, Education, Member Services or Research Directors
• Assist with general office work, such as mail outs

Conservation

• Serve as our representative on a conservation-related committee and bring forth the perspective of Nature Saskatchewan
• Serve as an Important Bird Areas “caretaker”
• Serve as a steward of one of our six nature sanctuaries
• Assist the Conservation Director in preparing position papers
• Review environmental and conservation documents

Education

• Participate in our PlantWatch program as a citizen scientist, and track the blooming date of a selected plant(s) (April-June)
• Assist with birding events at Last Mountain Bird Observatory

Member Services

• Assist with Spring and Fall Meet planning
• Lead or help organize nature tours as part of our Meets
• Give talks about an area of natural history in which you have some knowledge
• Assist with Nature Views or reviews for Blue Jay

Research

• Assist with bird monitoring and banding at Last Mountain Bird Observatory (May and August-September)
• Assist with Piping Plover surveys at Lake Diefenbaker and elsewhere (early June)
• Participate in wildlife monitoring programs, including Christmas Bird Counts (December) and Breeding Bird Surveys (June)
• Assist with our Stewards of Saskatchewan programs (e.g., Operation Burrowing Owl and Shrubs For Shrikes) (May-September)
