Celebrate Badger Day with a Badger Beer!
May 1st 2025 marks the first annual North American Badger Day, a new initiative to celebrate the American Badger (Taxidea taxus), an unsung hero of Canada’s grasslands. Badgers are important in maintaining healthy endangered prairie ecosystems, but like the prairie as a whole the badger populations are in decline due to habitat loss, road mortality, and persecution. These species at risk need our help and researchers need help understanding just how many badgers can be found on the Prairies.
“Badgers dig more than just burrows — they dig life into the soil,” says Grace Pidborchynski, Habitat Stewardship Coordinator at Nature Saskatchewan. “By protecting badgers, we protect the prairie.”
Get Involved:
- Join Rebellion Brewing and Nature Saskatchewan Thursday May 1st, at Rebellion Brewing Company (1901 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK) to celebrate with a special in-house beer to celebrate badgers... a badger beer. This beer is a unique Saskatchewan grasslands beer infused with yarrow, rosehips and sage. Yummy!
